Latin

Rome_Colosseum_inscription_2Latin was the language of some of the greatest thinkers of the world and had a profound influence on the development of Western thought over the last two millenia.

A knowledge of Latin enables you to engage with these writers; to read Cicero’s oratory in all its brilliance, reflect on Virgil’s Aeneid or consider Caesar’s strategic genius.

Sadly, in the last fifty years, the prevalence of teaching and learning of Latin has fallen into decline, a decline concurrent with its removal from tertiary education entrance requirements for careers in medicine and law.
